Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh
Found in the hills of Kangra district, Dharamsala is an ideal hill station with a scenic natural beauty. The conifer trees and snow-capped Dhauladhar mountain range in its backdrop make the Upper and Lower section of Dharamsala. The Upper Dharamsala is a bustling town which is known as the McLeodganj. Moreover, this is a perfect getaway for various trekking routes in the Himalayas. The most popular here is the Triund trek which will take you around 5 hours of trekking to reach the Triund peak. Once you are in Triund, you should set up your tent, prepare your sleeping bag and revel your camping experience.
Pangong Lake, Ladakh
Pangong Lake is considered as one of the world’s highest saltwater lakes having an altitude of more than 4,300 meters above the sea level. The lake’s crystal-clear water reflects the majestic beauty of its surrounding hills. Thus, augmenting this natural wonder’s beauty. The ultimate brilliance of this lake can be appreciated during dawn and sunset as this is when you get to observe the sunlight shimmers the water. Whether you will be setting up your own tent or join various campsites in the area, the camping expedition here is not for those uninitiated.
The temperatures in this lake can get intolerable and the altitude sickness may pose some problems. Nevertheless, do know that braving through the inconveniences of this lake will make this expedition worth it.
This is an adventure hotspot that has an altitude of 1,370 meters above the sea level. The main attraction here is the picturesque Bhimtal Lake along with the ancient temples that are steeped in the Indian mythology which includes the Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple that is dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
The hills and forests that are inside and surrounding the Bhimtal makes this as an ideal location for camping underneath the stars. Whist you are here, you should make your stay worthwhile by fishing and going on exciting nature walks.
Valley of Flowers National Park, Uttarakhand
Famous for their Alpine blooms, Valley of Flowers National Park extends around 88 square kilometers in Gharwal Himalayas. The stunning natural scenic beauty here are its meadows and waterfalls. Moreover, the fauna and flora here include more than 200 flower species like poppies and orchids. It also has a lot of butterflies and birds and wildlife such as the musk deer and Himalayan black bear.
The perfect time for you to visit this place is from mid of July to end of August. This is the time when you get to see the colorful best of the valley. Whilst staying inside the park is not allowed, there is a campsite about a couple of kilometers away that is at the beautiful village of Ghangaria.
Nahan, Himachal Pradesh
At 932 meters above the sea level altitude, you can find Nahan’s hill station upon the Shibalik range close to Solan. This place is perfect a summer camping destination and its weather remains cold throughout the year with the winter seeing an important drop in the temperature. Nahan surely makes a perfect and fun holiday camping that is away the hustle and bustle of the city. This is because of its green conifer trees that surrounds the manmade lake.
